A L'abri is a 501(c)(3) national nonprofit that assists people struggling with severe housing instability to maintain a life of
dignity through custom high-quality tiny housing solutions and empowerment training programs.
Throughout the nation there is a housing shortage especially when it comes to affordable housing for underserved communities.
The purpose of this program is to empower individuals to own their own home even if they are working with basic income to enable them to be homeowners. The end result is to help with the basic needs, such as secure and stable housing for them and their families.
We pride ourselves in helping and nurturing healthy, sustainable communities to thrive.
Permanent Housing for Veterans program provides veterans an opportunity to learn carpentry skills, build a resume and gives them support community while building a tiny home for a homeless peer in need.
Our nation-wide tiny home building workshops empower veterans to serve their country in new ways and foster lasting transformation in housing stability. We look to the future together by giving people access to resources, education, and new opportunities, which creates the possibility for personal growth, self-sufficiency, and fulfillment.
The A L'abri Veteran Housing Program provides independent housing for veterans in need of permanent housing through a rent to own program that allows veterans to rebuild their credit and even resell the home back to the program at the current fair market value when their circumstances enable them to. Studies such as HUD’s The Applicability of Housing First Models to Homeless Persons have shown that Housing First models result in long-term housing stability, improved physical and behavioral health outcomes, and reduced use of crisis services such as emergency departments, hospitals, and jails.
We believe that providing a permanent and safe home for our veterans in need of long-term housing transforms overall community health.
Our Pay-it-Forward Veteran Housing Program makes possible a life of dignity, freedom, and prosperity that every veteran facing housing instability deserves.
